Once upon a time...

Thanks to my parents, I had a magical Christmas as a child in West Virginia.
The reindeer hooves I heard on the roof were really my father outside throwing rocks.
I would find hoof prints in the snow on Christmas morning, showing that Santa and his reindeer
had indeed been there.

There would be footprints from the ashes made by the elves as they walked from the fireplace
to the Christmas tree to help Santa place the presents, and my mother would act as if she were
mad that they had made such a mess on the floor.

Every year my mother, an avid doll collector, would set out her antique Santa collection, which
always fascinated me. She would decorate with little elves she had made out of pipe cleaners
and felt, hanging them on the fireplace screen.
Each year a new elf would appear, involved in a new activity such as pushing a cart with
lifesaver wheels or wrapping a package.

"For me, Christmas is still the most magical time of the year"
" Yes, I still believe in Santa Claus"

I live and work on the banks of the Tygart Valley River near the small community of Colfax,
West Virginia. I have been a Santa artist since 1986 that is when my business Mountain Elves
was born. I am a self-taught artist. My only formal training being two years of elementary art
education in college. My work has won several awards and is currently collected throughout the
United States and abroad.

I am most proud of my Early American "White House Santa"
Sent to the White House by the State of West Virginia as a miniature showcase of our
Mountain State crafts, he carries items made by other WV artists.

Mountain Elves figures are one-of-a-kind creations. By drawing on my lifelong affection for
Santa Claus , I create my own versions of Santa. The unique designs are the result are my
interpretation of Christmas legends and customs from around the world.

Each doll is individually designed with a hand sculpted face. I research legends and folklore
from approximately 30 countries to lend authenticity and dress of my one-of-a-kind figures. The
special attention given to the detail of the costumes and accessories reflects the highest
standard of quality, making each figure a complete and unique work of art.

Each Santa is signed, dated and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and the folklore from his Country.

Through the years, I have added new creations to the Mountain Elves Collection
that include Christmas tree ornaments, wool roving Santa's and other Christmas related collectibles.

Thank you for your interest in me and my Santa Claus Dolls.
I hope you will enjoy the rest of your journey as you surf through the World of Mountain Elves!
